A day out in London with Metafores Yasatrans

Written by Panos Giantzides on . Posted in Travel Journey

This is a first of a series of posts we are going to be making showing our journeys we make within the UK and how far and wide we travel in order to provide you with the best service by collecting and delivering your items to your door. There are some interesting places to visit within the UK and you might even get inspired to visit one of these locations yourself!

The Capital: London

Seen as though this is the first post in this series we found it appropriate to start with the “first” city, London. We have visited London many many times and have seen many areas of it (One of our warehouses is situated in East London). So we thought we would share some pictures with you so you can see some of London’s famous sites and landmarks.

Big BenBig Ben

What better place to start than the legendary London landmark that is Big BenSituated near Westminister Bridge it is one of the most photographed and iconic landmark to visit and see in London. It is commonly recognised by the loud sound it makes when the clock strikes on the hour. It is the main clock that is pictured in photos for newspapers and on TV during the turn of the New Year and again those loud bell noises it makes signify the passing of the old year to the new one.

Bridge LondonTower Bridge

Another famous landmark where thousands of people walk past daily in order to get from the north to the south side of the Thames and where many tourists have their pictures taken. It is one of 34 bridges that cross the Thames!

We will leave it here for this post. Next time, we will be looking at London part 2: The Financial Sector which is located on the east side and is called Canary Wharf.

Moving to Cyprus from the UK?

Moving from the UK to Cyprus?

transport from the uk to cyprus
There are a wide variety of people that this appeals to or that moving to Cyprus from the UK is the only option for them as they are guests in the UK.

These usually are:

Cypriot Students

This primarily applies to Cypriot students who are spread all over the UK’s universities and are here for the prime reason of completing their studies and then return to their homeland to commence with employment etc (with a quick visit to the coastline for a quick swim for sure).

Cypriot Families

Another group of people that would possibly look at moving back to Cyprus from the UK would be Cypriot families.  These, usually, would be people that have:

  • studied in the UK and then got a job here which meant continuing to live in the UK,
  • Moved to the UK from Cyprus for work purposes,
  • Moved to the UK from Cyprus because of family needs/family already living in the UK.

There would be other groups of people in this list for sure.  There would be various reasons for the move back to Cyprus from the UK, and the main one would probably be employment in Cyprus.

English Families

This group of people would primarily be moving down to Cyprus for employment purposes (and usually coupled with the idea of nice sunny weather would be very enticing).  A “branch-out” group would be that of mixed families, meaning that one adult would be English and the other Cypriot.  Family bonds as well as employment would be the main reasons.

English Retirees

This group of people are usually older in age, have spent most of their life working in the UK and have been on holidays to Cyprus.  Falling in love with the Cypriot weather, culture and way of life is pretty easy, so the decision would have been made to buy a retirement home out there and spend their time by the sunny beaches and in tavernas.

Transport Facilities

Metafores by YaSaTrans provides transport facilities to Cyprus to service the demand for people moving back to Cyprus from the UK.  Our process is very simple.

collect -> load -> transport -> collect/deliver

We provide packing materials if a large removal is being done (e.g. furniture and general items from the house) and also help with the packing of large and fragile items (e.g. TV’s, couches).  We collect all the items you wish to transport from your home.  We then take them to our warehouses in the UK.  We then carefully load them onto the HGV’s that are Cyprus-bound.  Our HGV’s then make the 2000+ mile journey to Cyprus’s port in Limassol.  Your items are then available for collection from the port, or ready for delivery to your house in Cyprus.

If you are moving to Cyprus from the UK and are looking for a reliable transport company to move your stuff down there, contact us using the form to the top right, or call us on +44 (0)870 75 65 975 or on +44 (0)7900 59 49 10.  We look forward to hearing from you!

box for storageIt’s that time of the year again (or should I say that it has passed for some already) where the end of the student year is here and a lot of you will be looking for flights back to Greece/Cyprus to visit family, eat good food, have a swim at the beach! 🙂 and endure the political situation (if you are going back to Greece) 🙁

With student accommodation contracts comming to an end, the inevitable dilemma of “what will I do with my belongings?” question arises.

YaSaTrans has the storage solution for you!

We operate a Pick – Store – Deliver storage service to all our customers.  This method makes self storage unecessary as all you need to do is pack your things and we will do the rest! 🙂 Don’t worry if when you get back to the UK, you find yourself at a different place of accommodation or even a different city than you previously were when we collected your stuff.  We still apply the same method regardless of where you are in the UK.  With us, we do all the work, so you don’t have to.

YaSaTrans also provides packing materials to customers who request them and that have booked in advance.  These include:

  • Boxes – The essential item for any move.
  • Tape – Essential for wrapping up your boxes.
  • Bubble wrap – Provided if you have items like mirrors, plates, glasses etc.
  • Plastic see-through covers – Provided as covers for bed mattresses and such.
  • Labels – Sticky labels are provided upon pickup (if necessary) for items like suitcases and sacks.  Our labels page has a printable label that can be used to stick on to boxes with your information, i.e. name, address, phone number.

Packing Tips for Transporting your Stuff

Written by Panos Giantzides on . Posted in Metaforiki

Packing your stuff correctly for safe transport.

packing tips for transportIn this post, we would like to talk about packing tips and tricks that will help you (and help us), not only in safely and successfully transporting your stuff to Greece, Cyprus, Europe, but will also help you financially as they will lower the cost of the transport service.

  • Make sure your boxes/suitcases/sacks etc are of a regular size – By “regular” we mean between 80-90 litres in space capacity. An example would be a box of 40 x 40 x 50 cm. Charges depend on the size of your boxes. If they are bigger they will be charged more and if they are smaller they will be charged less.
  • Make sure your boxes/suitcases/sacks etc are of a manageable weight! – By “manageable” we mean around 20 kilos (airport weight). This is really important as the items will get man-handled by our staff several times. If they are heavy, because of all the items we have to handle, they will be making our life that bit harder. Because of this, we charge a penalty to all items that are deemed “overweight”. For example we would prefer 2 small/medium boxes weighing 15 kilos each, than 1 large box weighing 30 kilos. The 2 boxes in this case would work out cheaper than the 1 large heavy box.
  • Make sure your name and place of destination is clearly written on your items for transport – We transport and deliver thousands of items every year so it is not possible to remember which items belong to which customer. We kindly ask all our customers to include their details on their items so that mistakes can be avoided. Check out our labels page for printing labels to place on your items.

To summarise: “Decent sized and weighted items with labels on them.”  These are the basic tips in regards to having a safe and cheaper transport service from us.  If you found this information useful, why not share it with your friends using the social buttons to the left.

If you are moving back to Greece, Cyprus, Europe or within the UK and are looking for a transport company to complete your move, why not give us a call on 07900 59 49 10 or CONTACT US for a quote and more information.

Welcome to Metafores YaSaTrans

Written by Panos Giantzides on . Posted in Metaforiki

Hello and Welcome

Kalos Orisate to our new site!  We hope you enjoy your time here and find the site to be helpful and interactive towards your transport, storage, removals needs that YaSaTrans provides.

Did you know that since our inception in 2002, we have been the largest and most successful transport company that deals with Greek/Cypriot students.

We are committed to providing the best possible service, with the least possible hassle for our customers and at the most affordable price.  We believe this is the best way forward as it is mutually beneficial.

Did you know that we have not raised our prices for the past 4 years!

We believe in helping our customers in more ways than just transporting their belongings from one destination to another.  We understand that times have been tough during this past recession, household bills and costs in general have risen, but we have still kept the same prices since 2008!

What’s been happening?

Well, we have launched our new site over the bank holiday weekend.  We are very excited about it and will be testing it to see if its usability will be as good as our transport services.  (Do you like/dislike the site? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated as they go a long way towards improving our service online.)

We have been getting prepared for the summer season rush, where a lot of you students will be needing our transport, storage, removals services, so we have been stocking up on packing materials, making some more space in our warehouses, and preparing for the season ahead.

We have also made a new facebook page.  Check it out and give us a “like” 🙂
